You play Basketball, like a GIRL!

Ya gotta love the Sandlot. Another great quote,”There’s no crying in Baseball!”,  but apparently there is in Pro Basketball. Athletes all have their moments of pure emotion. Most of the time it’s during a championship game where a tough battle is going down. Well this past Sunday, the Miami heat lost to the Chicago Bulls, 87-86.  This one point game, left the Heat pretty upset. Head coach, Erik Spoelstra, told media after that game that, “There are a couple of guys crying in the locker room”.

They have lost four games in a row now to the likes of New York, Orlando, and  San Antonio, and now, Chicago. This comes right after the loss to Orlando, where Chris Bosh had a particularly emotional post game interview.  C’mon ladies, let’s try to pull it together!

UPDATE: Vick Backs Out

Michael Vick has cancelled his Oprah interview slated to air Feb 24th. His rep said it was for “personal reasons”. Here is the statement released on behalf of Micheal Vick:
“After careful consideration, I will need to postpone the taping of the Oprah Winfrey interview scheduled for February 22. I admire and respect Oprah and hope to be able to participate in an interview in the future.”
Harpo Productions has yet to find a replacement for the February 24th show.

Ohhh its a Doggie Dog World!  This Thursday Oprah will have Philadelphia QB Micheal Vick on her show.  This was something that seemed to be inevitable since Oprah is using her last year on air to hit all most controversial issues. According to Harpo Productions, Oprah will cover every thing from the dogs, to prison, his return to the NFL, and his work with the Humane Society. I hope he knows what he’s getting into, we all know Oprah likes to ease in then GO HARD in the PAINT!  Good luck Vick, Good luck!

Congrats to the Wimmers

Leah Michelle had a bit of a slip up last night at the Grammys.. but at least she had tough guy Clay Matthews to hold it down! Green Bay Packers, Super Bowl Winner, Clay Matthews had quite the night!

Obviously known for his, “Long Hurr, Don’t Curr” Attitude, Matthews got to meet Mr. Dreads himself, Weezy F baby, at the Cash Money Pre- Grammy party. I’d say Matthews is having quite the EPIC week!

In case you missed it, The Packers beat the Steelers in a 31-25 victory at Super Bowl 45!

Aaron Rodgers did an outstanding job! He completed 24-of-39 passes for 304 yards and three touchdowns to lead Green Bay to their first Super Bowl title in 14 years. So Congrats Cheeseheads!!!…Now, let the 2011 season get underway!

The Cheerless Bowl

The side lines of this years Super Bowl, against the Steelers and Packers, is going to look a little different. For the first time in more than 40 years no team cheerleaders will be on the side lines during the game. The Packers and the Steelers are 2 of the 6 teams that don’t have professional cheerleaders. I think this is a little known fact, because it seems universal, you have a pro football team, you have pro cheerleaders. NOPE! So with the big game being played in Texas, football heaven, there will be no girls on the sidelines to pump up the crowd… Seems pretty crappy if you ask me.  In Green Bay the team “borrows” the cheer squad of nearby colleges, University of  Wisconsin Green Bay and St. Norbert, for lack of better words, that is super Cheesy!

In case you are interested, the 6 cheerleading-less teams are The New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, The Green Bay Packers, and The Pittsburgh Steelers.  At least we can count on The Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders to be out side of the stadium on Sunday preforming… thank God!

K.O.B.E

The Los Angles Lakers battled it out with the Boston Celtics last Sunday and fell short. But for me the main event was not the Game itself, it was the event held afterwards, Nike’s introduction of the new K.O.B.E. Line. Nike decided to create 3 different kind of Kobe VI for the different neighborhoods in So Cal: East LA, The OC, and Hollywood.

The Launch came with a very cool new Nike productions Movie. “The Black Mamba” is a 7 minute film created by Nike and Directed by Robert Rodriguez, starring Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, and Bruce Willis. This is a MAJOR marketing campaign for Nike to spread the word about the new K.O.B.E Line.  K.O.B.E. stands for: K.now, O.riginate, B.attle, E.levate.

Go Get Em Boys!

Over the weekend out here in LA… Two UCLA Tight Ends took on a challenge that was all about pride! Andrew Yelich and Joseph Fauria took on Andrew’s dad, Chris Yelich and his Friend in a game of one on one basketball. Thanks to technology the whole thing was documented (for our enjoyment).
