Tony Parker: The Losers Bracket

Posted: November 17, 2010 by NattieLiz in NBA, The Losers Bracket, Twitter

Eva Longoria is no longer a real life Desperate Housewife. The latin beauty filed for divorce today from NBA star husband, Tony Parker. Once again, another athlete accused of cheating. This is a sticky situation as Longoria found her husbands phone filled with text messages from another team mates wife. OUCH. Couldn’t be just a rando- had to be someone elses wife! come guys! your killing us!  But Welcome to The Losers Bracket!

Eva sited that it was “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the split and is seeking “spousal support” aka a HUGE CHUNK OF CHANGE!

The star clearly had to make it official by going right to the public, Via Twitter:  “It is with great sadness that after 7 years together, Tony and I have decided to divorce. We love each other deeply and pray for each other’s happiness.”

The Losers Bracket: Darrelle Revis

People often talk about the athletes of today & their selfishness.  No one fits this description better then the New York Jets cornerback Darelle Revis.  He is the best player on the Jets but instead of helping them win a SuperBowl, he hasn’t showed up at camp because he doesn’t think his current contract is enough money for him.  As a rookie, he did the same thing & didn’t show up for a month but he eventually got his money.

In his first 2 years, he made more than $22 million in guaranteed money, not including bonuses.  He has accumulated more fines now because of missing camp then most people will make in a year.  The Jets are standing strong that they will not give him more money & I don’t blame them.  Right now they are about $40 million apart in what they are offering & what he is asking for.  Revis was one of the most beloved players on the Jets last year because he performed.  Jets fans are now livid with this guy because he could cost them a chance at winning it all because he probably won’t be playing for them in 2010.  There were a lot of high hopes for that team this year but all of those hopes included Revis.  Speaking to some Jets fans they reiterated the thinking of Cleveland fans after LeBron left: burn his jersey.

HBO’s “Hard Knocks” premieres tonight & this year they are following the Jets.  I’m sure HBO is loving this, since it just so happens that this training camp is filled with lots o’ drama.  There’s no denying that Revis is an amazing player but he has got to stop yelling “Show Me the Money!”

Just when we thought it was enough, another set of Collegiate athletes get arrested. I have said it once, and i will say it again: Summer in college is a recipe for disaster.

This time is was our friends over at squeaky clean Notre Dame.  11 Notre Dame athletes were among the 42 people arrested on misdemeanour charges of underage drinking at a party Friday night. Just to make this one even sweeter, Joe Montana’s son was one of the 11.

At a “rager” on Friday night off campus, Nate Montana, son of the former Irish and NFL standout, Joe Montana, was one of eight football players arrested. Also arrested was Tim Abromaitis, the basketball team’s second-leading scorer.

The others were wide receivers Robby Toma and Tai-ler Jones, linebacker Steve Filer, kicker Nick Tausch, cornerback Lo Wood, and offensive linemen Chris Watt and Tate Nichols; incoming freshman point guard Eric Atkins; and incoming hockey goalie Steven Summerhays. It’s amazing how alcohol, summer heat, athletes, and boredom seem to always result in a misdemeanor. I get hot, drink, and hang out,  but I have yet to be arrested for it— fingers crossed people!!!

The sheriff’s spokesman said most had been released on $150 bond. Notre Dame officials said coaches were aware of the arrests and any possible discipline would be handled internally. HA!! with personal experience on how ND handles discipline internally, these athletes should start visiting some other campuses before fall.

Let’s look at the trend of violence, irresponsibility, and chaos taking place this summer in the Land of College Football. It is only July 12th and official summer pre season football camp for most colleges does not start until the 1st or 2nd week of August. This leaves campuses across the country filled with boys that are amped up on a new season, taking basket weaving summer school classes, and ready to release all that adolescent testosterone. On campuses across the country it seems Summer has been a recipe for disaster.

Let’s start with our friends over in Knoxville, Tn.  At this point in the off Season they are already looking at:

2 players arrested in a bar brawl, that ended up leaving a police officer unconscious. WR Da’Rick Rogers and DB Darren Myles were both arrested over the weekend. This marks Myles 2nd arrest this off-season. Rogers is only a freshman at UT and was romping around the bars. This particular bar was 18 and over…Can some one explain to me why that even exist?  Stay classy Vols, Stay classy. Then again this comes to us from the same school where 3 freshman Vols, decided it would be a great idea to try to rob a car off campus back in November. (all while wearing UT gear, ps.)

Then there is the upstanding citizens in Good ol’ Chapel Hill.

UNC linebacker Quan Sturdivant, a first team all-ACC selection, was arrested Saturday morning and faces a misdemeanor charge for possession of marijuana. Well its a good thing Sturdivant passed up the NFL this season to play his senior year, SIKE! But the good news is  he’s not the only one in trouble. Less than a month ago reserve defensive tackle Jared McAdoo was charged with a misdemeanor for having a BB gun on campus.

Our next delinquents hale from The University of Georgia, Atlanta.

Sophomore tailback Dontavious Jackson was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident and other motor vehicle offenses early Saturday morning. He has been suspended for a minimum of six games.

Sophomore split end, Tavarres King a returning starter, was charged with underaged possession of alcohol, resulting in a one game suspension. Both players were together in the car and have been suspended indefinitely from all team activities.

I have to say, UGA doesn’t have the best role models for these kids to follow. These arrests came less than a week after UGA Athletic Director Damon Evans resigned following his own DUI. According to a police report, Evans asked to be taken to a motel instead of a jail or to be let off with a warning. The arresting officer said Evans, who is married, had a pair of red panties between his legs belonging to a 28-year-old female passenger who was not his wife.

And Drum roll please…..He just so happen to be the star of this, “Don’t Drink and Drive” PSA shown to UGA students.

WOW!!! UGA you arrreeee the biggest losers, goodbye!

The Losers Bracket

Ladies we all know, our first Loser is none other than Ben Roethlisberger… We can not make fun of this guy enough. If your man shows any similarities to Big Ben, we advice you start packing immediately.

The Newest Member of our oh-so-Popular, “Losers Bracket”, is none other than Oregon quarterback Jeremiah Masoli. As if it wasn’t enough for this kid to be suspended for the entire 2010 season for stealing laptops and a guitar from a frat house, he has now been dismissed from the Football team all together. Last Wednesday, two days after a police officer cited Masoli for marijuana possession and driving infractions, Coach Kelly gave him the MUCH over due Sayonara!

It seems that off the field he can not seem to get it together. His on the field accomplishments include throwing for 2,147 yards and 15 touchdowns last season. He now finishes his Oregon career with 1,386 rushing yards, the most ever by a Ducks quarterback. WOW. Way to blow it, Let’s hope with his one year of eligibility left he can take his talent and get back on track.
