The Cheerless Bowl

Posted: February 4, 2011 by NattieLiz in Fans, Green Bay Packers, NFL

The side lines of this years Super Bowl, against the Steelers and Packers, is going to look a little different. For the first time in more than 40 years no team cheerleaders will be on the side lines during the game. The Packers and the Steelers are 2 of the 6 teams that don’t have professional cheerleaders. I think this is a little known fact, because it seems universal, you have a pro football team, you have pro cheerleaders. NOPE! So with the big game being played in Texas, football heaven, there will be no girls on the sidelines to pump up the crowd… Seems pretty crappy if you ask me.  In Green Bay the team “borrows” the cheer squad of nearby colleges, University of  Wisconsin Green Bay and St. Norbert, for lack of better words, that is super Cheesy!

In case you are interested, the 6 cheerleading-less teams are The New York Giants, Chicago Bears, Detroit Lions, Cleveland Browns, The Green Bay Packers, and The Pittsburgh Steelers.  At least we can count on The Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders to be out side of the stadium on Sunday preforming… thank God!

We’ll Miss you Andy

So if ya’ll haven’t noticed we on this website all have a bit of our own bias & it is what it is. What we all tend to write about is what we are most passionate about & can you really blame us?  You can’t really help what it is that you’re passionate about & for this gal it’s all about the NY.  Today it was announced that the greatest post-season pitcher of all time, Andy Pettitte is going to retire.  There was alot of speculation all throughout the offseason that he would, but nobody knew for sure.  Today it was made official, that Andy would make the announcement tomorrow in a press conference.  It is a major blow to the Yankees because now the pitching rotation is full of question marks.  Yes, CC Sabathia & my main man, Phil Hughes will be good but what about the rest of the 3? AJ Burnett is either amazing or terrible (but always the epitome of cool because his personality is phenom.)  But the 4 & 5 pitchers? Who are they?  It’s going to be a major cause for concern for Yankee fans in the coming year because if things don’t go how we always expect them to, starting pitching will be the the downfall.  But above all else, as much as we will want a new great starting pitcher, we will most of all miss our great lefty big man.  Andy was not only a reliable work horse but, in my opinion, one of the greatest competitors of all time, as well as one of the greatest postseason baseball performers ever & a hall of fame pitcher who will not be replaced any time in the near future.  He was & always will be a true Yankee & a true gentleman & we love you, Andy.

Green & Yellow – The Black & Yellow Comeback

Posted: February 3, 2011 by thesank in Uncategorized

As many of you know, the 2010-2011 season has brought Super Bowl contenders, the Pittsburgh Steelers, to adopt rapper Wiz Khalifa’s popular song Black and Yellow as their unofficial anthem. He was even asked to perform it at the AFC Championship game (click image for full song).

It doesn’t come as a surprise that many people have recreated/remixed the song to fit their own favorite teams (Black & Purple (Ravens Remix), Green & Yellow (Oregon Remix), Blue & Red (Giants Remix), Blue & Orange (Gators Remix), etc.). You can probably find your own team’s remix very easily.

Well in wonderful Super Bowl fashion, Lil’ Wayne has decided to make his own version for the Green Bay Packers –>

As part of tha anti-Steelers faithful, I think that even though the thought might be overplayed, this was a wonderful comeback for the Cheeseheads. Lil’ Wayne is one of the best rappers out there, and if anyone can trump Khalifa’s Black & Yellow, it’s Weezy F baby.

The Los Angles Lakers battled it out with the Boston Celtics last Sunday and fell short. But for me the main event was not the Game itself, it was the event held afterwards, Nike’s introduction of the new K.O.B.E. Line. Nike decided to create 3 different kind of Kobe VI for the different neighborhoods in So Cal: East LA, The OC, and Hollywood.

The Launch came with a very cool new Nike productions Movie. “The Black Mamba” is a 7 minute film created by Nike and Directed by Robert Rodriguez, starring Kobe Bryant, Kanye West, and Bruce Willis. This is a MAJOR marketing campaign for Nike to spread the word about the new K.O.B.E Line.  K.O.B.E. stands for:, O.riginate, B.attle, E.levate.

Over the weekend out here in LA… Two UCLA Tight Ends took on a challenge that was all about pride! Andrew Yelich and Joseph Fauria took on Andrew’s dad, Chris Yelich and his Friend in a game of one on one basketball. Thanks to technology the whole thing was documented (for our enjoyment).

Hey Gals!

Life’s been a bit hectic for all of us! I just got back from a huge trip to Vegas, and its thursday…yet my toes are still hurting from my heels all weekend.

It made me wonder, “Is there another way??”  I always joke when we are out and people try to make me walk miles to a party or through a club, “I’m not wearing my Nike Air Wedges!” But now, it’s not so much of a joke.. Check it out!

If you are brave enough, and of course have enough swag to pull these off, check out

As you know, the NFL playoffs are in full effect.  This past weekend was the Divisional Playoffs & in the AFC it was a battle of the division rivals.  The Steelers beat the Ravens & the Jets beat the Patriots.  These 4 teams hate each other so it was certainly heated.  After the Jets-Pats game, Jets linebacker Bart Scott gave one of the greatest post game interviews ever with ESPN’s Sal Paolantonio.

Next weekend will be the League Championship games.  The Jets will take on the Steelers in the AFC & the Packers will play the Bears in the NFC.  Both should be excellent games leading up to an excellent Superbowl.
